The lack of self love is as dangerous as the lack of love for others or for God. Many of the saints died of cancer precisely because of this. Why is this happening? They did not know that one may not think of themself with hatred, disgust and contempt. Jesus Christ said, "I am in God, and God is in me.". That is, in HIM the divine spirit was more than human and had ceased to depend on what is human. Our supreme self is found in God and God is found in each of us. Self dissatisfaction, in the deep layers, self loathing and contempt are an aggression towards oneself, but also an aggression towards Love and towards God, so it must be stopped.
